Numbered Editions: Close to Heart and Inner View Object

One of the highlights of the celebration was the launch of the first drop of our Numbered Edition Designs, a new series of collectible works produced in 150 individually numbered editions, with additional drops to follow. Looking ahead rather than back, the pieces explored experimentation, materiality, and emotional presence through two distinct perspectives: Lise Vester's “Inner View Object”, a reflective glass piece shaped by light and perception, and Spacon's “Close to Heart”, a sculptural chair in extruded aluminum balancing structure and emotion. First unveiled during 3daysofdesign, the editions offered a glimpse into the next chapters of Scandinavian design through objects created to be collected, lived with, and experienced.  

The Library 

Beyond our headquarters, we expanded the conversation through The Library, presented at Other Circle with Spacon. Created as a space for reflection, exchange, and dialogue, The Library brought together books, objects, and ideas around three perspectives shaping Muuto’s next chapters in Scandinavian design: reconnecting with nature, meeting the body, and shifting perspective. Visitors were invited to explore freely — pulling books from the shelves, reading over a stranger’s shoulder, leaving notes in the margins, sitting on the floor, skipping to the end, or simply staying longer than planned.  

Throughout the week, the space fostered an ongoing exchange of ideas, including a discussion hosted by CLUB OPERA, a monthly forum examining how the material we consume shapes the way we think, design, react, and contribute to the world. It became a place where conversations unfolded naturally, bringing together different perspectives on design, creativity, and contemporary living. 

Next Chapters in Scandinavian Design 

The celebration also marked the launch of Next Chapters in Scandinavian Design – Muuto on Creating Intentional Spaces, published by Gestalten and edited in collaboration with Muuto. Through essays, photography, and conversations with contemporary designers, the book explores how color, form, tactility, nature, and light shape the spaces we inhabit and the way we experience them. Released as part of our anniversary year, it reflects on our perspective on contemporary Scandinavian design while looking ahead to its future. You can order your copy now.  

Upcoming designs launching September 2026 

Across all three floors of our Copenhagen headquarters on Østergade, visitors were also given a first look at three upcoming designs launching in September 2026. Presented alongside sketches, prototypes, and material studies, the previews offered insight into the thinking and development behind each project. Among them were the Coltre Sofa by Studiopepe, inspired by the softness of a blanket gently settling over a defined structure, the Brink Chair by Thomas Bentzen, a refined veneer chair developed at the intersection of material efficiency, comfort, and durability, defined by its distinctive structural bend, and the Contra Floor Lamp by Jamie Wolfond, a counterbalanced lamp that makes the physics of balance visible, allowing movement and equilibrium to become part of the user experience. 

Beyond the new launches, visitors were invited to experience Muuto's designs in context throughout our showroom and outdoor spaces. The newly opened Muuto Café, serving coffee from Prolog, created a place for conversation and pause, while the outdoor area and the rooftop showcased the latest additions to our collection, including the Assemble Outdoor Series and new configurations of the Settle Series. Together, these spaces reflected the role design plays in shaping atmosphere and connection. 

Muuto Design Contest 002 

A key part of this year's program was the presentation of the winners of Muuto Design Contest 002, celebrating emerging talent and new perspectives in Scandinavian design. On display were Kihyun Kim's winning APS—A Piece of Seating alongside runner-up projects by Gabriella Mozo and Jules Charvet. Together, the projects highlighted thoughtful approaches to materiality, functionality, and everyday use, offering a glimpse into how the next generation of designers is shaping the future of design. During the festival, we also launched Muuto Design Contest 003, continuing our commitment to supporting new voices and ideas. Inspired to share your own perspective? Submissions for Muuto Design Contest 003 are now open. This year, we’re looking for new ideas for outdoor accessories and smaller furniture.  

A piece of the celebration 

Throughout the week, visitors could take a piece of the celebration home through a curated pop-up store featuring the newly released Gestalten book, anniversary tote bags, and a collection of t-shirts and key chains created in collaboration with PHANTA. Together, these objects became small reminders of a larger moment—one that celebrated not only twenty years of Muuto, but the people, ideas, and perspectives that continue to shape what comes next. 

As we mark our 20 year anniversary , the question is not only where Muuto comes from, but what comes next. The next chapters of Scandinavian design unfold through the balance of rational thinking and emotional experience. In an increasingly digital world, this means creating real-life, physical experiences that invite presence, reflection, and human connection. We are excited to continue that exploration and share what comes next.
