our guess is, you're located in

Tell us more about your home and how long have you lived here?

Mikkel: We’ve lived in this apartment for about 12 years. It's actually in the same area Camilla and I moved into early in our relationship. As our family grew, we moved into a bigger space within the same block. This apartment used to be two smaller flats, so we combined them into one. We created a large kitchen and open living area, and added more rooms for the kids. It’s changed a lot since we moved in, and it continues to change. A bookshelf that was once green is now red, we rotate artwork, repaint walls… It’s always evolving with us.

Camilla: We live here with three of our four children, one has moved out, but our youngest, along with our other two teens are still at home. It's a busy household, but it's full of life.

What inspired you to choose the Outline Sofa?

Camilla: We loved how simple the design was. It’s clean and calm, and the Hallingdal fabric is durable—important when you have a big family. The warm brown shade, number 350, fits beautifully with the red bookshelf and our wooden floors. It brings a sense of calm and ties the room together without taking over. We don’t have one strict style—it’s more a mix of classic furniture, colors we love, and pieces that feel personal. The sofa is part of that balance.

    Mikkel:
We have a lot of art and color in the home, so we try to balance that with furniture that feels timeless and grounded. This sofa does that—it’s big enough for us to really use it, but simple in its shape and proportions. The color also works perfectly with the bookshelf behind it, which we actually painted red not long ago. That small change made a big difference.

Mikkel Karstad "The shelf holds my cookbooks, art, and small objects we’ve collected over the years, so together with the sofa, it creates this warm, lived-in corner that feels honest and personal—really the heart of our home."

How does it shape your everyday life at home?

Camilla: It fits our daily life so well. We gather there to talk about our day, play games, or watch a film together. In the evenings, it becomes this cozy space where Mikkel and I stretch out, he might be reading, and I’ll be beside him, watching something or just relaxing.

Is the sofa more for quiet moments or social gatherings?

Mikkel: Definitely quiet moments. It's where we wind down at the end of the day. We don’t usually entertain guests in the living room, we tend to stay around the big kitchen table for dinners, but the sofa is very much our family’s space. It’s where we all land after the day.

Mikkel Karstad "It’s not often we’re all six on it at once, but that’s part of the charm—some sit in the sofa, some on the floor. It feels natural and relaxed."

Are there any rituals or personal habits connected to the space?

Mikkel: I usually end up there in the evenings, sometimes still working on my laptop, other times with a glass of wine or a late cup of tea. And more often than I’d like to admit, I fall asleep there. It’s just that comfortable.

    Camilla:
It’s not one particular ritual, but I love when we all end up there, even if for a little while. Sometimes I sit on the floor next to our daughter, brushing her hair, or we put on a film and turn it into a little event. It’s not formal, it’s about being close.

What creates a sense of home for you?

Mikkel and Camilla: It’s the family around us. That’s what gives this place its soul. The furniture, the colors, the objects, they all matter, but in the end, it’s the people that bring it to life.

Mikkel and Camilla Karstad "The noise in the kitchen, the kids coming and going, the small moments on the sofa at night those are the things that make this home feel like ours."
