How long have you been in your apartment?

Very recently. I took it over on March 1st of this year, started renovating, and moved in around May. Creating a sense of home quickly mattered to me. My work life is busy and social, so having calm at home helps with balance. The space isn’t “finished,” of course, but it functions—and I’ll keep layering over time as I get to know it.

What inspired you to choose the Outline Sofa?

I really wanted to find a sofa that offers lots of comfort and seating, without being overwhelming in terms of volume and design. This naturally led me to the Outline Sofa 3½-seater in Clay 15. The design is not too fussy.

Michael Schneider “It references sleek mid-century furniture while maintaining a modern and relevant feel. It looks rather petite in its proportions, whilst offering plenty of space. Perfect for living in a Copenhagen apartment.”

How does it shape your everyday life at home?

It supports different aspects. I use my home actively for work and creative projects—testing ideas, even using it as a backdrop. Professionally, it matters more than most homes I’ve had. But it’s also where I recharge and let ideas settle. I haven’t hosted much yet, but I definitely think the sofa is perfect for movie nights with friends or even as a place for guests to stay overnight due to its softness and deep seat.

What has been a meaningful moment in the space so far?

There’s no single moment, but as the apartment slowly comes together, I often find myself lying on the sofa, taking in the view. Looking at many of the art and furniture pieces I’ve collected over the years fills me with a sense of ease and being at home.

Do you have any rituals or habits around the sofa?

I really feel that 10-minute power naps are my secret weapon in a busy everyday life. Drawing the curtains and taking a quick nap after work or before dinner has become my ultimate sofa ritual.

How does the sofa interact with your overall interior atmosphere?

It blends in and stands out all at once. I work a lot with color and tactility when putting together a space, and I spent quite a bit of time choosing the right fabric and color. I wanted a calm, earthy palette with browns and green hues that create a welcoming feel and let the artwork speak. The dusty feel of the Clay textile fits the energy of the space perfectly—adding to the atmosphere without overpowering it.

In what ways has it helped create a sense of home?

A sofa is a vital part of any home. Much like a table or a bed, it needs to be there to create that rooted feeling. I think everyone who has lived in a place without a sofa knows that sense of something being “missing.” In that way, the Outline Sofa has shaped the feeling of home a lot.

Michael Schneider “But more importantly, the process of choosing it—contemplating the right size, looking through fabric samples—made the final piece feel incredibly personal. It’s a physical anchor in the space, but also a symbol of having arrived.”
