With a progressive and forward-looking approach, we're on a mission to support new talents in the design world, encouraging them to keep manifesting new perspectives and bringing innovative ideas to the industry.

We define Scandinavian design as functional, well-crafted pieces with enduring aesthetic and honest expression—a harmonious blend of form, function, materiality and tactility. Good design should be inviting, intuitively attractive, and spark curiosity.
Challenge design conventions by exploring how modern materials and techniques can transform traditional methods. Push boundaries in shape, craftsmanship, comfort, functionality, and durability. Consider how natural materials enhance materiality, tactility, and authenticity.
We seek products that stand out through innovation and offer a tactile experience, creating stronger connections between object and user. Consider how your design impacts the senses—how materials, shapes, colors, and space affect emotions and well-being. We want designs that feel intuitive, bringing calm, comfort, and balance while encouraging touch.
Please attach your design proposal as a PDF - maximum file size 20Mb. Your design proposal should clearly articulate the design process and contain the following:
— High-quality photographs or renderings capturing the essence of your design.
— Images of models or samples showcasing the physical embodiment of your design.
— Context visualizations showing the use of the product
— Considerations about the design's scalability.

The Muuto Design Contest aims to provide a platform for designers to showcase their unique creations and ideas while fostering a new outlook within our organization. We want to challenge ourselves, remain updated on the latest design trends, and collaborate with designers from around the world.
For the Muuto Design Contest, we seek proposals that reimagine accessories for various rooms.
We define accessories and small furniture as items that complement a room's atmosphere. They are functional yet sculptural, adding aesthetic value to a space. Examples include vases, rugs, organizers, stools, coat stands, and side tables.
Your design should also harmonize with the Muuto universe and our current designs and assortment.
We do not accept admissions that fall under the lighting category.
12 October 2025 Deadline for design submission.
Ultimo November 2025: All finalists will be contacted, marking the start-up of the production of showpieces for photoshoot and the launch of the winning design.
2026: The official announcement of the finalists and winners will take place in 2026.
The selection of the winner and finalists will be awarded by an internal jury composed of Muuto’s Design and Creative Teams.
The Jury will emphasize registrations that embrace a contemporary approach by reimagining tradition. We encourage contestants to dare to explore new horizons in natural materials, shapes, craftsmanship, functionality, and durability.
We encourage contestants to explore the essence of Scandinavian design while introducing new perspectives that challenge traditional notions and elevate the everyday.
You may enter multiple submissions. However, the applications should be separated, meaning you cannot accumulate both applications into one application.
We welcome submissions from collaborative teams, including studios or collectives of two or more individuals.
The jury will focus solely on the specific design proposal you are sending. This contest is open to all creative minds. We're looking forward to seeing the unique ideas each participant brings to the table!
Muuto’s core is organic, soft shapes, so it’s important to keep that in mind in your proposal, but we're not rigid.
We're curious about future production potential, but your initial concept is key. Keep your initial proposal clear and focused.
You maintain all intellectual property rights to your design proposal until we may agree otherwise. We request that you do not submit the proposal for other design contests.
If you become the 1st prize winner, and the product gets into production, we will offer you a design contract.
We will keep your design proposal confidential, and only Muuto’s Design Team and the Internal Jury will receive information about the proposal. Likewise, we request that you keep the design proposal confidential.
If you become a prize winner, we will publish your design proposal as part of our marketing.
You may withdraw from the competition at any time until the winners have been announced. If you withdraw, we will delete and destroy your design proposal.
